Remember Lot's Wife

By the Rev. Dr. Benjamin E. Bernier

In our sermon last time, on the Second Sunday in Advent, we observed how God's eternal Word cannot pass away. We saw how the miraculous births of Isaac, John the Baptist, and our Lord Jesus Christ reveal God’s sovereign initiative in salvation, showing that redemption is never the fruit of human effort but the result of God's divine grace overcoming human impossibilities. Due to God's intervention, Abraham’s line through Isaac became a living prophecy of the Gospel, and the Lord revealed to Abraham both His mercy and His justice with the visitation of judgment about to fall on Sodom.
